The land we restore, and the women who restore it.
We identify degraded land that needs restoration and women farmers to work with.
The land we have worked on
We look for farmland that drought and floods have left bare: cracked soil, lost topsoil and little vegetation left. Around 70% of Kenya is arid or semi-arid, and in 2025 one of the counties we work in saw crop failure of around 95%.
We began in 2025 with a 4 hectare pilot. Today we work across 60 hectares of Kenya's arid and semi-arid lands. Our goal is 80 hectares by 2027, and then to take the model across Africa.
Where we work, and who with
Kenya's drylands
Arid and semi-arid land covers around 70% of Kenya. We started with 30 women on 4 hectares and now restore 60 hectares with women farmers' groups.
Scaling across Africa
Drylands across the continent face the same drought, worn out soil and hunger. Our model is built to travel: restored land, a ready market and school meals, led by women.
The women we work with
- Women smallholders
We work with women who farm small plots and carry most of the farm work, yet often have the least access to inputs and markets.
- In groups
Farmers join through women's groups, so training, seed handouts and harvests are shared and no one restores land alone.
- On their own land
Each woman restores a plot she farms, so the benefits of healthier soil stay with her family.
- Measured from day one
We record each plot's starting condition, so every hectare restored can be measured and verified later.
